Residential Roofing Rule Change
OSHA has rescinded Directive STD 03-00-001, which allowed residential roofers/construction workers to implement alternative fall protection and work procedures than what is typically required under 1926.501(b)(13) (requiring the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems).
Beginning June 16, 2011, residential roofers/construction workers will be required to follow 1926.501(b)(13). OSHA allows the use of an effective fall restraint system in lieu of a personal fall arrest system. To be effective, a fall restraint system must be rigged to prevent a worker from reaching a fall hazard and falling over the edge.
The AES Raptor SAFETY GATOR is the perfect solution to comply with this rule change. Simply set up the Safety Gator on the opposite side of the residential structure, fill the tank with water, and attach the Ridge Safety Line Guide (included) at the peak of the roof. Now you can have six (6) workers safely tied off in fall restraint, in OSHA compliance! Don’t wait until OSHA comes to your jobsite and imposes crippling fines. More importantly, don’t wait until a worker falls off a roof and gets injured or killed. Order the Safety Gator today!
