DO I NEED A RESCUE SYSTEM/PLAN?
Yes, OSHA 1926.502(20) states that “The employer shall provide for ‘prompt’ rescue of employees in the event of a fall or shall assure that employees are able to rescue themselves.”
WHAT IS A PROMPT RESCUE?
OSHA points to research indicating that suspension in a fall arrest device can result in unconsciousness followed by death in less than 30 minutes. An Air Force study shows that volunteers suspended in harnesses experienced adverse health effects in as little as 12 to 15 minutes. Some safety experts say damage can be done in as little as 5 or 6 minutes.
HOW DOES THE RAPTOR RESCUE SYSTEM WORK?
The Raptor Rescue System is designed to lower or raise a fallen worker to a safe area so medical treatment can be administered. After a fall has occurred, lower the Engagement Arm Lock into position and release the cable lowering to the fallen worker. Once the cable has been properly attached you may begin to lower or raise the worker. One man can work the winch simply because of it 5 to 1 gear reduction.
NOTE – AES Raptor, LLC recommends that a fallen worker is lowered to the ground whenever possible.
DOES THE RAPTOR RESCUE SYSTEM FIT MY R1000, STINGER, OR TRIREX?
YES, the Raptor Rescue System was designed to fit on all of the AES Raptor Mobile Fall Protection Carts.
CAN I USE THE WINCH TO HOIST MATERIAL?
No, the Raptor Rescue System was designed to be used for rescue purposes only. The winch and its components are only rated for personnel hoisting with the capacity of 330 pounds.
IS THE WINCH REMOVABLE?
Yes, the winch is designed with a quick release to allow you to store the winch in the job box away from weather and theft.
