Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS THE ADVANTAGE OF THE RAPTORRAIL SYSTEM OVER OTHER GUARDRAIL SYSTEMS ON THE MARKET?
The RaptorRail was designed to make the roofer/construction workers’ job easier and safer, and to help bring your job under budget.  Look at the graphic on the RaptorRail page and the main page to see how the RaptorRail can increase your profit margin on every job.  The RaptorRail is fast and easy to install, fits on multiple leading edge situations, is reusable, has a huge amount of adjustability, and is environmentally friendly.

Wood Guardrails are time consuming and costly not to mention the impact it has on our environment. Cables are difficult to use and reuse, hard to see and tend to tangle during storage. With the RaptorRail system you will not have to worry about visibility, throwing away old wood railings, throwing away money in labor costs, or untangling cables.

Over 90% of our customers who have purchased a RaptorRail system have come back and purchased at least one more.

HOW DO YOU ATTACH THE RAPTORRAIL™ TO THE ROOF/SURFACE?
The RaptorRail is attached using one of two methods. The first being for low edge applications, this application will require the use of mechanical fastening the base to the roof/surface. The second is for parapet wall applications. The parapet clamp option uses the base to clamp the wall of the building thus requiring no mechanical fasteners.

WHY DOES THE POST BASE SWIVEL UP AND OUT OF THE WAY?
The RaptorRail is designed so that it can be installed and protecting users for the entire roofing project. The RaptorRail Base swivels up and out of the way for tear off and layup purposes. When you’re work progress advances to a mechanical fastened base simple slide in the Temporary Mid Rail Support, remove the fasteners and swivel the base out of the way. Once work is done around the Base, swivel it back into position and refasten.

WHAT TYPE OF FASTENERS SHOULD BE USED?
AES Raptor, LLC recommends using four to six - #14 coarse thread wood screws with 1 ½" penetration per screw in each RaptorRail Base into a solid wood based that is either an integral part of the structure or securely attached to the structure.

HOW WIDE CAN THE PARAPET EDGE BE?
The RaptorRail optional parapet clamp system will attach to a parapet wall up to 24" wide
