Frequently Asked Questions
WHERE ARE THE COUNTERWEIGHTS/WATER TANKS?
The TriRex has no counterweights to add or water tanks to fill. The solid steel frame members, along with the leverage of the safety engagement arm, eliminates the need for cumbersome counterweights or water tanks.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
If a fall were to occur, the TriRex’s Patent-Pending Roof Safety Engagement Device penetrates the roof, creating a secure anchor point to restrain or arrest the fall.
HOW MANY MEN CAN ATTACH TO THE TRIREX?
Three* men can attach to the TriRex for fall arrest. An additional two men can attach to the TriRex for fall restraint. Thus a total of 5 men can attach to the TriRex at any one time.
*For CONCRETE only two men can attach to the TriRex for fall arrest.
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FALL ARREST AND FALL RESTRAINT?
Fall arrest is the stopping of a fall in progress. Fall restraint is to stop before it occurs.
IS THE TRIREX OSHA APPROVED?
OSHA regulations and standards are established as the criteria to be met in the design of products. The TriRex is manufactured to comply with all relevant OSHA regulations, including OSHA Regulation 1926.502(d) for fall arrest anchors.
WHERE DO I HOOK UP TO ON THE TRIREX ?
Three rings that are welded to a green plate located in the center on one side of the TriRex are the fall arrest tie-off points. The two yellow swiveling D-rings are the fall restraint tie-off points. The four yellow fixed lifting hooks located on each corner of the TriRex are for hoisting purposes only.
ARE THERE ANY PARTS THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED OR RE-CERTIFIED IF THERE IS AN ACTIVATION OF THE SYSTEM?
Yes. If the unit is involved in a fall, the two (2) bronze bushings located where the engagement arm is attached to the frame must be replaced. The gas shock must be replaced as well. If the activation is strong enough, the engagement claw may stick in the substrate. Contact AES Raptor, LLC at toll-free (888)-990-2990 for replacement parts. After rescue is complete, dislodge the claw from the substrate and reset the ratcheting mechanism. The engagement arm will return to its ready position. A competent individual must inspect the unit for any damage and to insure that the engagement arm moves in an uninhibited manner. The TriRex may be repositioned and used again.
CAN THE BASE MODEL TRIREX BE USED WITHOUT THE LARGE JOB BOX?
No. The large job box is an integral part of the TriRex and is bolted to the frame.
WHAT TYPE OF TIRES ARE INSTALLED ON THE TRIREX?
All TriRex’s now come standard with Solid Polyurethane Tires.
WHAT DOES THE TRIREX WEIGH?
The empty weight of the base model TriRex with solid tires is 1120 pounds. Each AES TriRex has a sticker inside the lid of the rear job box which provides the empty weight of the models.
CAN I INSTALL MY OWN EQUIPMENT ON THE TRIREX?
Yes. AES Raptor offers an optional 12 cubic foot job box but the base model is sold without any
optional equipment, giving the owner the opportunity to install their own equipment.
CAN THE ENGAGEMENT SYSTEM BE INSTALLED ON THE ROOFING CARTS I ALREADY OWN?
No. The AES TriRex is specifically designed and tested to operate in combination with the Roof Safety Engagement Device. A fabricated roofing cart would not comply with OSHA regulations without proper testing and certification, thus subjecting the workers and owners to potential hazards and fines.
